Darlene Ann (Goc) Badura, 82 of Loup City, NE died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 4 at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, Badura family or donor’s choice.

Darlene Ann (Goc) Badura was born June 27, 1935 at Ashton, NE to Louie and Sophie (Smydra) Goc.  She graduated from Ashton High School in 1953.  She attended Kearney State College and graduated with a teaching degree and taught in rural schools in Sherman County for eight years and then St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

On August 31, 1957, she married Dennis Badura in Ashton, NE.  They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.  Three children were born to this union; daughter Jerrilynn and twin sons Jan and James.

Dennis and Darlene farmed north of Loup City until they retired 1995 and moved into town. 

When Darlene and Dennis moved into town they managed the Loup City Golf Course, then Darlene worked at the local Drive Inn, Colony Inn, she prepared food for many weddings in town and she always looked forward to helping with the annual Fireman’s Barbeque.  Darlene enjoyed baking, cooking, bowling, polka dances and growing flowers of all kinds.  The pride and joy of her life was her family.  She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s activities from sports to the fine arts.

Darlene was a lifelong member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, Rosary Sodality, Alter Society, CCW, American Legion Auxiliary, Sherman County Extension Club, and 4-H leader.

Darlene is survived by her husband Dennis; daughter, Jerrilynn and husband Jerry Lyons of Grand Island; sons, Jan of Lincoln, James of Sherman Reservoir. Grandchildren, Eric and Andrew Lyons, Alexa and Jaci Badura.  Two Great Grandchidren, Oliver and Josephine Lyons.  Sister-In-Laws and Brother-In-Laws; Lorraine Magsamen, Eloise Compardo, Karen and Don Forsythe, Mary Jane and Mick Ashman and Marge and Dan Wintz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Sophia, sister Zita Kowalewski brothers LaVern and Isadore Goc. Brother-In-Laws; Harry Kowalewski, Ray Magsamen, and Jim Compardo.
