Harold D. Dorsey, 82 of Loup City, NE died Monday, April 07, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE.  Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with Reverend Russell Barelmann officiating.  Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  There will be no visitation.  As per Harold’s wishes cremation has been held.  Memorials are suggested to the Dorsey family. 

Harold Dean Dorsey was born March 1, 1932 on the family farm near Arcadia, Nebraska to Knight and Mildred (Cockle) Dorsey. He started farming with his dad at the age of 8 years old. He graduated from Arcadia High School and continued farming. On May 29, 1952 he married Georgia Lorentz. While living on the farm three sons were born; Kim, Tim and Craig. Harold and Georgia along with the boys lived and farmed on the family farm until 1959 when they moved to Loup City.

Once moving to Loup City Harold and Georgia owned and operated Dorsey – Cook Implement, which later became Dorsey-Ericson. In 1964 Harold and Georgia, along with partners built and operated the Trades Winds Marina. Also at that time they were part owners of Loup City Lanes.

In 1970, Harold and Georgia started T-D Inc., which built the Colony Inn and operated for over 20 years.  Also in the 80’s, Harold and Georgia started T-D International, an equipment business an irrigation business selling and installing irrigation pivots across the United States. This business took them overseas to the Middle East. Harold lived in Saudi Arabia for 8 years selling and installing irrigation pivots and grain bins. While there he also managed the farm of a Saudi Arabian Prince.

In 1975 Harold and Georgia opened their home to a foster son, David Snyder.

During the 1980’s Harold started a lawn sprinkler installation and repair business. He also opened The House of Meats in the old theater building and partnered with others to form Micro R & D, a computer and internet business.

Over the years Harold has served on many different boards including the Loup City Chamber of Commerce and was currently serving as treasurer of the Loup City Golf Course and on the board of the Loup City Airport Authority.  Harold was a small engine pilot for many years and enjoyed flying.  For over 20 years he has been the manager of the Loup City Golf Course where he started the annual Classic Golf Tournament.  He was a member and an officer of the Masons, Porter Lodge #106 in Loup City for over 55 years.

Harold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgia (Lorentz) Dorsey of Loup City, NE;, sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Cathy, Tim and Tracey all of Loup City, NE;, Craig and Theresa of Lincoln, NE, and Dave and Kim Snyder of Plattsmouth, NE; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and sisters and their spouses; Kenneth and Genevieve Dorsey, Marjorie and Lon Widders, Betty and Joe Lee, Blanche and Max Cruikshank, Keith and Maybella Dorsey; 1 granddaughter, Gina Dorsey; 1 great granddaughter, Marie Holmquist; 1 niece, Barb Stapp and 1 great niece, Lori Vergara.
