Helen R. Shotkoski, 88 of Loup City, NE died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at the church with a Vigil Service/Sodality Rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Shotkoski family or donor’s choice.

Helen R. Shotkoski was born November 3, 1927 at Lincoln, NE to Frank and Grayce (McGrail) Blockwitz.  She grew up in Lincoln, NE and graduated in 1946 from Cathedral High School in Lincoln.  After graduation she worked for the Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln till 1949.  She then attended St. Elizabeth Radiology Technology School in Lincoln and graduated in 1952.  She worked at Lincoln General Hospital as an x-ray tech for a couple of years.  On November 28, 1958 she married Arthur F. Shotkoski in Lincoln.  They farmed outside of Loup City and Helen worked as an x-ray tech for Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City where she remained till it closed.  Arthur died in October, 2000.  She moved into town in 2001.  Helen was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church; Sodality Rosary and the Loup City American Legion Auxiliary. 

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Lou) Shotkoski-Jurgens of Blue Springs, NE; son, Frank Shotkoski of Ithaca, NY; daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Joe Cahoj of Olathe, KS; Denise and Tom Kuligowski of Loup City, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kristi of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Villarreal of Austin, TX; five grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Florence Fattig of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; sons-in-law, Dennis R. Jurgens and Charlie Deats; brother, Bill Blockwitz and sister, Marjorie Hubbell.
