Irene Badura, 87 of Loup City, NE died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Paplin Cemetery near Ashton, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 27 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Polish Heritage Center in Ashton, Paplin Cemetery or donor’s choice.
Irene Regina (Mendyk) Badura was born July 30, 1928 in Sherman County, NE to Tony and Theresa (Piontkowski) Mendyk. She grew up and attended school in rural Sherman County. On November 24, 1947 she married Alojzy Badura at Hazard, NE. After marriage they farmed in the Ashton area until moving to Loup City in 1962. Irene worked at the Ordinance Plan and at Delicious Foods in Grand Island, NE. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and St. Josaphat’s Rosary Sodality. Irene took pride in cleaning the church. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Joyce Grgurich of Phoenix, AZ and Sandi Jorgensen of St. Paul, NE; grandchildren, Craig Badura, Camie Badura, Sarah McMaster, and Jessica Jorgensen; great grandchildren, Sydney, Abby, Caleb, Danica, Thomas and Coner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons; Danny, James and Ron and two brothers, Emil and Edwin
