Julia J. Shotkoski 92 of Loup City, NE died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Valley View Living Center at Ord, NE.  Our dear mother, Julia is now holding her husband, Alex’s hand in heaven.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at the church with a Vigil Service/Sodality Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  After her passing, Julia’s wish was for this to be a happy and joyful occasion with friends and family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Cancer Center or donor’s choice.

Julia Joan (Krzycki) Shotkoski was born April 20, 1923 at a rural farm in Genoa, NE to Anton and Anna (Bazynski) Krzycki.  She grew up and attended school in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1941.  She married Alex A. Shotkoski on June 25, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa.  Alex passed away November 30, 2006.  Julia taught rural schools in Nance and Sherman counties and also taught CCD classes in Arcadia, Genoa and Loup City.  She also helped with the after school program for Loup City Public Schools.  They farmed northwest of Loup City and after retirement in 1991 moved to Loup City.  She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Rosary Sodality and Extension Club.  It brought her great joy to remember people with cards – especially Rose Lane Home birthdays.  Julia had a real love for lettering writing.  She is survived by her daughters, Nancy and husband, Richard Baker of Anna, TX; Barbara and husband, Robert Mobus of Port Orchard, WA; Veronica (Susie) and husband, Guy Chaney of Mission Hill, SD; Julie (Jill) Kinnaman of North Platte, NE; sons, James of Grand Island, NE; David of Loup City, NE; Kenneth of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren, Danielle Nowell, Desi Gotses, Brian Hancock, Pete Kinnaman, Jessica Striker, Marya Shotkoski and Kendra Shotkoski; four step-grandchildren, Sara Smeby, Rebecca Mitchell, Ben Chaney and Paula Armor; Eighteen great grandchildren and sister, Rita Shanahan of Portland, Oregon;.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex; sisters, Elizabeth Fonda, Rose Rosno, Margaret Pavack, Lucille Wruble, Lorraine Baustert; brothers, William, Ray and Robert Krzycki.  A special thank you to her special friends; Jane Bellows, Cheri Miley, Home Health Care and staff, nurses and CNA’s at the Valley View Living Center in Ord, NE.  Their exceptional care and kindness was a great comfort.
