Leona Haesler, 94 of St. Paul, NE formerly of Loup City, NE died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Brookfield Park Nursing Home in St. Paul. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 1027 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Loup City or St. Paul Rescue Squad or donor’s choice.
Leona M. Haesler was born August 21, 1922 on a farm near Loup City, NE to Carl and Louise (Schwaderer) Obermiller. She attended Wiggle Creek Consolidated School near Loup City graduating in 1942. On November 9, 1946, she married Elmer Haesler at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Loup City. They had two sons. Elmer and Leona lived on a farm near Loup City until Elmer’s death on January 21, 1988. Leona moved to town in 1992. Leona was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Loup City since March, 1956. She also belonged to the Birthday Club and Extension Club for many years. She enjoyed ceramics and gardening.
Leona is survived by her son, David and wife, Kay of Phillips, NE; grandchildren, Dwight Haesler and Lauren Rees; great grandchildren, Nova and Silas Rees and sister-in-law, Betty Wrehe. she was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Larry and sister, Leila Palmgren.
