     Louise Wooden, 93 of Kearney, NE formerly of Loup City, NE died Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating. Burial will be held at the Arcadia City Cemetery in Arcadia, NE with lunch to follow at the Arcadia American Legion. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 31 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia American Legion Auxiliary or Sherman County Historical Society. 

     Louise C. (Lane) Wooden was born September 26, 1923 at Omaha, NE to Marion and Rose Anne (Fagus) Lane. She attended Bristol schools. Louise enjoyed cooking all of her life. At age 13 she started cooking at the Fredrick Hotel in Loup City. On September 10, 1942, she married Roy D. Wooden at Ord, NE and they lived in Loup City, NE. In 1954, they moved to Arcadia and started Woody’s Café. Then in the early 1960’s they ran a bar in Arcadia together. In 1966 Roy and Louise moved to back Loup City and ran the bowling alley for a couple of years. From 1968 till 1984 they ran Trade Winds Marina. From 1985 to 1987 while still living in Loup City they managed the Arcadia American Legion Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 56 years and was a Gold Star Sister. Louise enjoyed quilting, coin collecting, auctions and collecting antiques. Family was truly the most important part of her life.

     Louise is survived by her three sons, Dick and wife, Jeanie of Ogallala, NE; Roger and wife, Bev of Cairo, NE and Robert and wife, Tami of Kearney, NE; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wooden of Cairo, NE; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; son, David; parents; stillborn sister and two brothers.
