Scott Shottenkirk, 40 of Loup City, NE died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE. Cremation has been held. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating. Burial will be held at the Czechoslovakian Cemetery at Farwell. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. Memorials are suggested to the Shottenkirk family or donor’s choice.
Scott Conrad Shottenkirk was born May 20, 1976 at Grand Island, NE to Melvin Meyer and Janis Shottenkirk. He attended Walnut Junior High in Grand Island. In 1992 he moved to Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1995. On June 30, 2006 he married Bonney Becker at Loup City. He worked in the construction field until the birth of his son on July 9, 2014, Samuel Conrad Shottenkirk. At that time he became a full time father to Samuel and his nephew, Nathan Wetzel. Scott was a talented artist of wildlife and classic cars. He was an avid fisherman and was well known for his fish fries. He enjoyed Husker football and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Bonney of Loup City, NE; son, Samuel Shottenkirk of Loup City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Michelle Meyer of Grand Island, NE; Sandra Wetzel of Grand Island, NE; Amanda and Richard Iske of Loup City, NE; Kimberly and Tim Sebesta of Grand Island, NE. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Meyer; mother, Janis Meyer and half-sister, Christi Meyer.
