Tom L. Flinn

Tom Flinn, 74 of Loup City, NE died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Flinn family or donor’s choice.

Tom Lee Flinn was born July 3, 1941 at Torrington, Wyoming to Marshall J. and Gwendolyn Janice (Todd) Flinn.  He attended Kearney High School.  On May 28, 1962 he married Verna O’Brien at Columbus, NE.  He was a butcher at Swift and Company for 15 years and retired in 2000.  After that we worked for Country General and Alltel.  He was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church.  Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring old cars, watching NASCAR, tractor pulls and drag racing.  He also loved being with his family and going to St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with his wife, Verna.

He is survived by his wife, Verna of Loup City; son, Thomas and wife, Cherie Flinn of Central City, NE; daughters, Teresa Marie and husband, Randy Kuszak of Ashton, NE; Melinda King of Gering, NE; grandchildren, Erica Elsasser, Aleisha Bohaboj, Whitney Flinn, Derek Coplen, McKenna Wells, Colton Flinn, Madi Flinn and Zach Wells; great grandchildren, Boston Bohaboj, Turner Bohaboj and Easton Elsasser; brothers, Chuck Polka of Kearney, NE; Gary Flinn of Grand Island, NE; brothers-in-law, Steve Mathews of Kearney, NE, Jim O’Brien and wife, Carole of Loup City; Bill O’Brien and wife Delores of Shelton, NE and sister-in-law, Connie O’Brien of Shelton.  He was preceded in death by his daughters, Nancy Kay Flinn and Lanette S. Wells; parents; sister, Kay Mathews; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dolores and Stanley Plante and brother-in-law, Laverne O'Brien.
