     Wendell Glinsmann, 76 of Rockville, NE died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln, NE. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City with Reverend Shawn Kitzing officiating.  Burial will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Ashton, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Glinsmann family or donor’s choice.

     Wendell Carl Glinsmann was born July 16, 1940 at Loup City, NE to Peter Fredrick August and Laura (Obermiller) Glinsmann. He grew up on the family farm south of Ashton, NE and attended grade school, district 26. He went to high school in Ashton and Rockville and graduated from Rockville in 1958.  

     He was married by his brother, Alvin to Frances Arlene Kanter, July 16th, 1967 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer, NE. They had two children; Lisa Lea and Leslie Lee.  He enjoyed the seasonal fall work at the Sugar Factory in Grand Island in the early 1960’s. They lived on the family farm and then later purchased their own farm. He loved farming and was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City.

     Wendell loved his career of farming which he began after graduating high school.  He loved caring for animals particularly his cattle and pigs. He enjoyed collecting crocks, hens-on-the-nest, farm toys along with other antiques from his past. He served numerous terms as a Sherman County Commissioner. He was active in 4-H for most of his life.  He loved visiting with friends and family as well as strangers.

     He is survived by his wife, Frances of Rockville; daughter, Lisa Calloway; son, Leslie and wife, Tatiana Glinsmann both of Loup City, NE; three grandchildren, Jordan Kosmicki, Aaron Woods and Manieka Calloway; brothers, Alvin and wife Marian Glinsmann of Rapid City, SD; David and wife Arlene Glinsmann of Ravenna, NE; sisters, Ruby Niederklein of Tobias, NE; Shirley Ficken of Elkhorn, NE; Ethel and Dale Rasmussen of Windsor, CO; sisters-in-law, Virginia Glinsmann of Loup City, NE and Rachel Glinsmann of Ord, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merle, Ervin and Don Glinsmann; brothers-in-law, Gene Ficken and Dallas Niederklein and sister-in-law, Darlyne Glinsmann.
