James Lutz, 79 of Arcadia, NE died Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Arbor Care Center in Ord, NE. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held at a later date at the Arcadia City Cemetery in Arcadia, NE. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church or Sherman County Senior Center.
James “Jim” R. Lutz was born March 3, 1944 at Loup City, NE to Carol and Alberta (Russell) Lutz. Jim grew up on the family farm and attended District 4 Rural School near Arcadia. He married Mary Ann Toczek on September 14, 1963 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic in Loup City. Jim lived and farmed on the family farm near Arcadia his entire life where you could often find him tinkering in his shop. He liked to listen to Kansas City Royal’s baseball, Kansas City Chief’s football and attending Nebraska Cornhusker football games. Jim also enjoyed traveling with his wife to the east coast to visit the nation’s capital, camping in the mountains and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #5455. He enjoyed Christmas’s with his grandchildren and going to their ballgames. Jim and Mary Ann celebrated 60 years of marriage in September, 2023. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Lutz of Arcadia, NE; son, Jim A. Lutz of Kearney, NE; daughter, Karrie (Andrew) Simmons of Marquette, NE; son, Jeff Lutz of Arcadia, NE; daughter, Konni Lutz (Dustin Oliver) of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren, Jacob (Ruth) Simmons of Marquette, NE; Emily Simmons of Yakima, WA; Sarah (Braeden) Corman of Larned, KS; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Lorraine Toczek; Alicia Toczek; Dotti Toczek; Helen (Bruce) Ohme; Mike Toczek and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carol and Alberta; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Helen Toczek; brother-in-law, Joe Toczek and infant brother, William Carrol Lutz.
