Arlene Glinsmann Obituary

     Arlene M. Glinsmann 82, of Ravenna, NE died Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna, NE. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City with Reverend Shawn Kitzing officiating. Burial will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Ashton, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to the Glinsmann family for later designation of their choice.

     Arlene Mae (Bockstadter) Glinsmann was born June 4, 1935 at Kenesaw, NE to William “Bill” and Amanda (Kort) Bockstadter. She attended first grade at Phillips, NE and then her family moved in 1943 to a farm north west of Wood River, NE. While there she attended District 33. Her family moved in to Wood River in 1948 where she attended high school and graduated from Wood River High School in 1953. After high school she attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE. She graduated in 1956 with a Lutheran Teachers Diploma and in 1963 earned her Bachelor of Science Degree. Her first teaching job was at Zion Lutheran in Hastings, NE where she taught kindergarten and first grade for seven years. Arlene then moved to Jacksonville, FL where she taught for five years. While in Jacksonville she met her future husband, David P. Glinsmann. Arlene and David were married on August 18, 1968 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River, NE.  After marriage, David and Arlene moved to Rockville, NE. For the next twelve years Arlene taught school at Rockville, Austin and Loup City. After she retired from teaching she was a cook at S. Y. Acorn (Old Scotties) south of Ravenna, NE and also at the Dew Drop Inn also in Ravenna.

     Arlene was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City where she was the church organist for 40 years. Arlene also was Immanuel Lutheran Sunday School Superintendent and Vacation Bible School Director.   She was an officer for the Aid Association of Lutherans (Branch 4351) for 35 years. She enjoyed crafts, quilting and animals.

     Arlene is survived by her; sisters-in-law, Virginia Glinsmann and Frances Glinsmann of Loup City; Rachel Glinsmann of Ord, NE; Ruby Neiderklien of Tobias, NE; Shirley Ficken of Elkhorn, NE; Ethel and husband, Dale Rasmussen of Windsor, CO and brother-in-law, Alvin and wife, Marian Glinsmann of Loup City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David; brothers, Arnold, Melvin and Robert and sister, Velma Hornickel.
