Delores Slobaszewski, 84 of Ashton, NE died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Cremation has been held. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the church with a Recitation of the Rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Slobaszewski family or donor’s choice.
Delores (Baker) Slobaszewski was born April 7, 1935 at Sherman County, NE to Joe and Sallymae (Stenka) Baker. She was the oldest of 5 children and took care of her younger siblings as they were growing up. She grew up in the Loup City/Valley County area and attended school district 54.
She married Alvin Slobaszewski on October 7, 1952 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, NE. They were married for 63 years before Alvin’s passing in April, 2015. Alvin and Delores farmed his parent’s farm. She was active with the St. Mary’s Altar Society in Rockville. Delores enjoyed her chickens, dogs and cats, gardening, coffee with friends and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Delores is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Greg Colombe of Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sandy Slobaszewski of Ashton; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dan Foster of Loomis, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Krista Slobaszewski of Loup City, NE; grandchildren; Brett Colombe, Jessica (Jon) Schueth, Ronnie (Audrey Koperski), Randy (Juli) and Roger Slobaszewski, Stacey (Maurice) Cole, Tony (Ashley) and Jeremy (Pam) Hansen, Conner and Parker Slobaszewski; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; brothers, Larry (Glenda) Baker of Grand Island, NE; Don Baker of Greeley, NE; Rick (Nancy) Baker of Anna, TX and sister, Jane (John) Wagoner of Winters, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents; grandson, Michael Hanson and sister-in-law, Eileen Baker.
