Gary Greenland 69 of Arcadia, NE died Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating. Burial will be held at the Arcadia City Cemetery in Arcadia, NE. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Greenland family or donor’s choice.

     Gary was born January 26th, 1948 to Marvin & Irma (Goodrich) Greenland in Loup City.  He attended and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1967.  On August 24, 1968 he married Karen Lewandowski in Arcadia.  To this union three children were born. Gary LeMichael, Sandra Jean & Clinton Wade.  Gary worked 10 years for Trotter’s.  In 1978 Gary started Greenland Well Service and over the next 30 years grew it into a very successful business and made many dear friends.

     Gary enjoyed his card club group, his numerous coffee buddies, auctions, and afternoon drives.  He took great pride in refurbishing his antique tractors and his windmill weight collection.  He beamed when he showed them off.  His biggest joy was his children and grandchildren.  Gary didn’t know a stranger.  Everywhere he went he shared his humor and words of wisdom.

     He was a member of the Sons Of American Legion Unit 251.  Gary served as the Mayor of Arcadia for 11 years.  For 17 years he was a member of the Arcadia Fire Department.  He was also on the Arcadia Town Board and the Arcadia Health Committee.

     Gary is survived by his wife, Karen of 48 years; Son, Mike and wife Jolene, Caden and Ty Greenland of Arcadia;  Daughter, Sandi and husband Joe, Zach, Abby & Miles Hulinsky of Arcadia;  Son, Clinton and wife Connie, Emma, McKenzie, Mason, Polly and Sawyer of Ord;  Mother, Irma of Kearney;  Mother-in-law Charlene Lewandowski of Loup City;  Brother, Denny (Karmen) Greenland of Arcadia; Sisters, Marlene (Jerry) Bader, Kris (Terry) DeBord all of Kearney; Sherry (Al) Viscarra of Oregan;  Brothers-in-law, Ron Lewandowski, Dave (Nicci) Lewandowski, Robert (Dallas) Lewandowski;  Sisters-in-law, Barb (Kenny) Dorsey, Diane Loeffelbein, Linda (Jim) Obermiller, Carla (Larry) Lonowski, Mitzi (Lonnie) Tvrdik, Cheryl (Sam) Dunn; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      He was preceded in by death by his Father Marvin Greenland, father-in-law Carl Lewandowski and brother-in-law Kenny Loeffelbein.
