James Franklyn Stephens

     James (Jim) F. Stephens, 93 of Loup City, NE died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at CHI Health, Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE. Cremation has been held. No local services are scheduled. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, NE. 

    James Franklyn Stephens was born August 1, 1925 at Lincoln, NE to Franklyn and Marsena M. (Clinkenbeard) Stephens.  He grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. Jim married Doris H. Peterson on October 1, 1949 at Council Bluffs, IA. He was co-owner of JED Construction, masonry contractors in Lincoln. They moved to Sherman Lake near Loup City in 1992 and then moved into town 2012. Jim built and piloted experimental air craft. He enjoyed playing cards and pool at the senior center. Jim also enjoyed playing golf, golfing in area senior tournaments through the fall of 2018.     

     He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Mike of Loup City, NE and Tom and Mary Jane Bruce of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Dan and Bryan Stephens and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sister, Mary Davenport and brother, John Stephens.
