     Mary Obermiller 95, of Loup City, NE died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Bishop William Joseph Dendinger, Emeritus and Father Richard Piontkowski concelebrating the mass. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at the church with a Vigil Celebration/Sodality Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church or donor’s choice.

     Mary T. (Pray) Obermiller was born September 6, 1921 at Loup City, NE to Clarence and Angeline “Nellie” (Maciejewski) Pray. She graduated from Loup City High School in 1938. Later she attended Kearney State to renew her teaching certificate. On May 6, 1947, she married Ralph Obermiller at Loup City. Nine children were born to this union; Jim, Tom, John, Connie, Mary Margaret (died at birth), Karen, Marcia, Cheryl and Joanie. Ralph and Mary first lived on a farm just west of Loup City later moving to a place southwest of there. In the spring of 1950 they bought a farm northwest of Ashton and then in December of 1960 they moved to a farm south of Loup City, the former Art Obermiller farm. Mary taught school from 1938 through 1946 and then worked for four years at the ASCS office in Loup City. From 1982 to 1989 she worked at the nursing home in Loup City. In April of 1995 she moved to a home in Loup City just one block south of the Catholic Church.

     Mary was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Within the church she was a Healing Minister; member of the Quest Group, Council of Catholic Women, Rosary Sodality, Gospel Study Group and Prayer Associate with the Felician Sisters. Mary was like a mother to all the local boxers in town that her husband Ralph coached. Her love for her family, grandkids, great grandkids and others was never ending. She touched so many hearts in the lives of others. 

     Mary is survived by her sons, Jim and wife, Linda Obermiller, Tom and wife, Sue Obermiller and John Obermiller and friend, Diane Axman all of Loup City; daughters, Connie and husband Roland Shafer of Ord, NE; Karen Shapley of Grand Island, NE; Marcia and husband, Randy Kauk of Farwell, NE; Cheryl and husband, Kenny Albright of Ravenna, NE; Joanie Schneider of Littleton, CO; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and sister, Mickey and husband, Les Steinblock of Council Bluffs, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Clarence and Angeline “Nellie” Pray; infant daughter, Mary Margaret; infant brother and sister; and sister, Dorothy Markvicka.
