Caroline Mazankowski, 96 of Loup City, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Bailey Pointe at Roxbury assisted living facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, Nebraska. Father Richard Piontkowski will Celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27 at the church with a Sodality Rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Mazankowski family, Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, Loup City Rescue Squad or donor’s choice. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Caroline Marie Mazankowski was born March 1, 1928 in Sherman County, Nebraska to Peter F. and Josephine (Karty) Wardyn. She attended Wiggle Creek Country School and then graduated from Hazard High School. She went on to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Kearney State College receiving a Bachelor's Degree. She married Lawrence Mazankowski November 17, 1947 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hazard, NE. They were blessed with four children, Mike, Mark, Faye and Ken. Caroline taught school for 46 years. She enjoyed teaching and gardening. Caroline had a garden up to age 90. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing and entertaining people.
Caroline is survived by her daughter, Faye (Mike Jasnoch) Uden of Omaha, NE; sons, Mark (Deb) Mazankowski of Leroy, KS; Ken (Susan Butler) Mazankowski of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law, Arlene Mazankowski of Columbus, NE; sister-in-law, Donna Wardyn of Loup City, NE; ten grandchildren, Dave, Scott, Eric, Heather, Cole, Aaron, Matt, Savannah, Alicia and Austin; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; son, Michael; son-in-law, Dave Uden; brothers, Cash, Robert, Ralph and Floyd; sisters, Sabina, Ella, Dorothy and Regina.
