Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Cecelia Kusek on March 19, 2026, at her cherished home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted children, Edith and Alan. Born on January 5, 1945, in Newport News, Virginia, Cecelia was a beacon of warmth, compassion, and unwavering love to all who were fortunate to know her.

Cecelia was the beloved daughter of Stanley and Lottie Basta, who predeceased her, along with her husband, Jimmie J Kusek, and her brother, Stanley Basta Jr. She is survived by her loving children, Edith and Alan, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Her sister, Mary Basta, remains a cherished part of her family, as do her grandchildren, Chris, Steven, and Lindsey, and her great-grandchildren, Jubilee, Corban, Ryleigh, Jonah, Liam, Sarah, and Lilly, who brought endless joy to her years.

Married to the love of her life, Jimmie Kusek, on June 8, 1963, Cecelia was a devoted wife and partner. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, creativity, and love. Cecelia's passion for quilting and sewing was not just a hobby but an expression of her artistic spirit, a talent she eagerly shared with her community through her active participation in the local Quilting Club.

Cecelia's educational journey led her to earn an associate degree, but it was her role as a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother where she truly excelled. She was a nurturing presence, offering guidance, wisdom, and an abundance of love to her family, who were her proudest achievements and greatest joy.

A celebration of Cecelia's life will be held on May 1, 2026, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, located at 704 Noth 9th St, Loup City, NE. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a Rosary at 9:30, followed by a Mass at 10:30. Father Richard Piontkowski will celebrate the mass. Following the burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City, a lunch will be served, allowing all who were touched by Cecelia's kindness to share memories and celebrate her remarkable life.

Cecelia's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. Her gentle spirit, boundless generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts and the world around her.
