Charlotte Sue Stephens, 81 of Glendale, CA died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit in Irving, TX. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City, NE with Reverend Barbara Spangler officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Stephens family or donor’s choice.
Charlotte Sue Swanson, was born on September 21, 1929, in Loup City, Nebraska. Her parents were Oscar L. Swanson and Etta Lofholm. She had 8 sisters and 1 brother. Her childhood years were filled with joys of leading the high school band with her baton, and being crowned queen at the high school prom. She enjoyed music and the discovering of arts.
On September 9, 1949, she was married to Dale Francis Stephens where they lived in Glendale, Calif. They had 4 boys, and 2 girls. Sue was a caring and loving mother. Her motto (Do all the good you can – By all the means you can – In all the ways you can) surely carried through her life in which she demonstrated with others. She was an active member of Peo, Chapter DJ of Glendale, Ca., since 1968. She was very supportive of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and many other associations.
Sue enjoyed the outdoors, loved to bake, and watch her children on fishing trips. She knew God since she was a little girl and continued worshiping at the Presbyterian church in Glendale, Ca. She lived each day giving and caring for her 14 grandchildren and her 2 great granddaughters, as she did unto others.
She is survived by her sons, Russell Stephens and wife, Gail McKee of Ft. Collins, CO; Greg and wife, Laura Stephens of Orange, CA and Roger and wife Laura Stephens of Los Gatos, CA; daughters, Marsha Stephens of Irving, TX and Colleen and husband, Yuri Stephens of Alta Loma, CA; sisters, Louis Hanshew, Aldean Isaacson and Alice Lynn Throckmodon. She was preceded in death by one son, Randy Stephens; husband, Dale, parents and one sister.
On Friday evening, September 24, 2010, Sue went to be with the Lord. Her death was caused by a collapsed lung. She is now in the Father’s house of many mansions, where God has prepared a place for her. We as a family are thankful you her being a believer.
We thank the Lord for having her, a women with a caring heart and cheerful spirit, as a part of our lives, as a caring wife, mother, sister and friend to many.
