Lincoln, Nebraska

Cheryl Rae (Bates) Lawson, 58 of Lincoln, NE passed away December 2, 2018 at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Memorial graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating.

Cheryl was born December 2, 1963 in Omaha, NE to Buster Darby and Mary Louise (Bydalek) Bates. She grew up in Omaha and was an avid lover of horses and her dream was to always be a Cowgirl. Even as an adult if asked what she wanted to do she would answer, “Ride a horse and be a Cowgirl”. No niece or nephew was ever left out to have a pair of cowboy or cowgirl boots! She was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews as she was the “fun” aunt. It was always a happy time when she visited!

Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Elizabeth “Annie” Ann (Bates) Pike of Long Pine, NE; Denise Kotler and her husband Toli of Aliso Viejo, California; Jenifer Shanno of Oakland, Iowa, and Victoria Morrow, of Kearney, Nebraska. She is also survived by family members, Michelle Wilson of Ord, Nebraska; Alecia Rogers of Colorado and Racheal Shanno of Oakland, Iowa; nephew, Nick and niece, Angie; great nephews, Rex and Max along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Catherine “Kelly” Danklesen.
