Connie L. (Siegel) Curtis

Connie L. Curtis, 65 of Grand Island, NE died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hazard with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Burial will be held at the Litchfield Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at St. Gabriel’s with a Vigil Service held at 6:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s.  Memorials are suggested to St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church or donor’s choice.

Connie Louise Curtis was born July 22, 1948 near Litchfield, NE to Ardith and Loretta (Hansen) Siegel.  She grew up and attended a one room school near Litchfield and later graduated from Litchfield High School.  She then graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1969.  She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital after graduation till moving to San Diego, CA early in 1974.  On June 29, 1974 she married Raymond Curtis at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hazard, NE.  She was a Registered Nurse at several places around San Diego, CA.  After Ray was discharged from the Navy, she worked in hospitals and as a private duty nurse.  She finished up her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, NE.  She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband, spending time with her nieces and nephews, collecting antiques and going to St. Louis Cardinals games.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Curtis of Grand Island, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Siegel of Litchfield, NE; sister, Joyce Birchard of Central City, NE and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
