Curtis “C.W.” Roberts, 76 of Ashton, NE died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his home in Ashton. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with the Reverend Douglas DeNeui officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 26 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. Memorials are suggested to the Benevolence Fund at Grace Bible Church or donor’s choice.
Curtis Roberts was born December 2, 1933 at Wheatland, WY to Theodore and Rose (Skoglund) Roberts. He grew up in Chadron, NE and attended school at Chadron Prep School. He married his high school sweetheart Virginia Taylor on April 13, 1952 in Chadron, NE. Throughout their married life they lived in Chadron, NE, Page, NE, Ewing, NE, Broken Bow, NE and in 1969 moved to Ashton, NE. He owned and operated Ashton Locker Service in Ashton, NE and House of Meats in Loup City, NE. He also owned and operated Roberts Services which specialized in refrigeration and appliance repair. He enjoyed fishing and especially the time he was able to spend with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Curtis Wilson and Kathy (Moraczewski) Roberts of Lincoln, NE; Craig Eugene Roberts of Des Moines, IA; Lester Neil and Vanessa (Moore) Roberts of Sumter, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa (Terri) Evelyn and Delbert Griffiths of Broken Bow, NE; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Kay Roberts of Neligh, NE and Brian and Shirley Roberts of Chadron, NE; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Loice Bartlett of Chadron, NE, Delores and Ward Millar of Rapid City, South Dakota, Patty Bruce of Newark, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia, great grandson, Ethan Condon; brother, Douglas Roberts and infant brothers, Steven and Chester Roberts.
