David J. “Spike” Lewandowski was born in Arcadia, Nebraska, number eight of ten Lewandowski children to Charlene (Palser) and Carl Lewandowski on April 8, 1962. He attended Arcadia Public Schools and graduated in 1980. After graduating, Spike continued to work and live on the family farm, south of Arcadia. On July 8, 1995 he was united in marriage to Nicci McClary. They were blessed with four boys, Anthony, Trey, Cohen, and Chase.

Spike spent his entire life on the farm. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. He was a true caretaker of his cows and crops; from spending endless nights up and working through blizzards to save calves, to irrigating crops even though it had rained. He loved coaching and attending the sporting events of his boys, and you could always find him in the yard after work playing pick-up football or basketball with his boys, even with broken ribs at times. He enjoyed playing Pinochle, and would sometimes conveniently miscount points. He loved going to Sunday coffee at his moms with his siblings. He was an excellent story-teller, and there was never a person he met that didn't leave with a smile on their face and story to remember.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Nicci of Arcadia, NE; his sons, Anthony (Brittany) McClary and their children, Corinne, Gabe, and Will of Arcadia, NE; Trey (Madison) Lewandowski and their children, Kinsley and Riley of Arcadia, NE; Cohen (Sarah) Lewandowski and their children, Hayes and Tate of Arcadia, NE; and Chase Lewandowski of Arcadia, NE. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Greenland of Arcadia, NE; brother, Ronald (Melea) Lewandowski of Arcadia, NE; sisters, Barb (Kenny) Dorsey of Arcadia, NE; Linda (Jim) Obermiller of Loup City, NE; Diane Loeffelbein of Loup City, NE; Carla Lonowski (Larry Placzek) of Loup City, NE; Mitzi (Lonnie) Tvrdik of Loup City, NE; Cheryl (Sam) Dunn of Hastings, NE; sister-in-law, Dallas Lewandowski of Loup City, NE and many nieces and nephews.

Spike was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Charlene; his brother, Rob Lewandowski; and brothers-in-law, Kenny Loeffelbein and Gary Greenland.
