Delta (Piper) Placzek

Delta Placzek, 88 of Loup City, NE died Monday, December 09, 2013 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Cremation will follow the service with burial of the ashes to be held at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Placzek family or donor’s choice.

Delta (Piper) Placzek was born February 6, 1925 at Loup City, NE to Ray and Sarah (Bichel) Piper.  She grew up and attended school in Loup City and graduated at the age of 16 from Loup City High School. She received her teaching degree and taught school for a couple of years.  On November 28, 1944 she married Clarence Placzek at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City.  They lived on a farm until 1965 and then moved into Loup City.  She worked at the Loup City Sale Barn and drove the school bus for pick up and drop-off of school children and also to school activities.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, playing cards, bingo and going to the casino.

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Placzek of Loup City; Jerry Placzek of Loup City; Richard and Tonya Placzek of McCook, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Placek of Omaha, NE; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; brother, Earl Piper and sister, Louella Davis.
