Ellen Charlton, 90 of Lincoln, NE formerly of Loup City, NE died Friday, October 27, 2017 at The Arbors Care Center in Lincoln. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating. A light lunch will be served at the United Methodist Church Hall following the service. Memorials are suggested to the Charlton family or donor's choice.

Ellen Marie Charlton was born in Loup City, NE on May 20, 1927 To Dr. Carl G. and Emily (Wanek) Amick. She grew up in Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1945. She married Jack A. Charlton in 1947 and they lived on the family farm throughout their marriage.

She was a graduated of Stephens College in Columbia, MO and Kearney State College. She taught vocal music at Loup City Public Schools and in the Sherman County Rural Schools. She taught piano, voice and violin students in Loup City. She played violin in the Kearney College Symphony Orchestra for over 25 years, and also played in the Hastings Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Charlton was a life-long member of the Loup City Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, choir director and soloist. Over the years she sang for many funerals.

After they retired the couple enjoyed traveling and camping, and for several years served as volunteer camp ground hosts in Wyoming.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana Zetterman of Lincoln, NE; Paula (Mrs. Ron) Johnson of Bushnell, NE; Mrs. Bruce (Colleen) Charlton of Modesto, CA; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister, Janet of Charlton of Laguna Woods, CA; brother, Dr. Frank Amick of Manchester, NH.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack A. Charlton; daughters, Jill Ellen Charlton and Wendy Ann Charlton and son Dr. Bruce Randall Charlton.
