Emil Kuligowski

October 25, 1924 — January 9, 2015

Emil Kuligowski 90, of Loup City, NE died Friday, January 9, 2015 at his home in Loup City.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 12 at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Kuligowski family or donor’s choice.

Emil Kuligowski was born October 25, 1924 at Loup City, NE to John and Martha (Guzinski) Kuligowski.  He grew up and attended school through the 8 th grade at Loup City when he then worked on his parent’s farm.  On June 22, 1953 he married Myrtle Schnase at St. Francis, KS and they lived  in Loup City.  In 1947 he began work with the Nebraska Department of roads where he worked until retirement in 1987.  After retirement he continued a greenhouse and bait shop with Myrtle which he enjoyed until 2007.  Myrtle died on January 12, 2008.  Emil enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, playing cards, traveling and gardening.

He is survived by his son Tom and wife Denise Kuligowski of Loup City, NE; daughters; Janet Kuligowski of Seward, NE; Nancy Montgomery of Grand Island, NE; Susan McAfee of Grand Island, NE; three grandchildren, Jason and wife, Angie Montgomery of Red Oak, IA; Lisa and husband, Eric Haffey of Lincoln, NE; Alyssa McAfee of Dannebrog; three great-grandchildren; Reese Montgomery, Drake Montgomery and Kaylee Haffey and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrtle and three brothers; Pete, Louie and Tony.
