Emily Lewandowski, 90 of Loup City, NE died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Lewandowski family or donor’s choice.
Emily Lewandowski was born January 24, 1920 at Ashton, NE to John and Martha (Lorchick) Spotanski. She grew up in Ashton and attended school at District 56 in Sherman County. She was a mother’s helper in the Sherman County area. On September 30, 1944 she married Leonard Lewandowski at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at Paplin, NE and they farmed on a farm northwest of Ashton. She and her husband moved to Broken Bow, NE in 1973. While in Broken Bow she worked in a green house and bakery. Emily moved to Loup City in 2006. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Kathy Spotanski of Loup City, NE; Gene and Marj Spotanski of Loup City, NE; Alozy and Darlene Spotanski of Loup City, NE; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Alvin Kwiatkowski of Litchfield, NE; Virginia and Merlin McRoberts of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Mary Spotanski of Ravenna, NE and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Albin and Hurbert Spotanski and sister, Nellie Schachta.
