Georgia M. (Connelly) Ference

Georgia M. Ference 75 of Loup City, NE died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Sodality Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Ference family or donor’s choice.

Georgia M. Ference was born July 29, 1937 at San Francisco, CA to Joseph Terrance and Georgia Charlotte (Lynch) Connelly.  She grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Star Of The Sea High School in San Francisco.  After graduation she attended community college and worked for one year for Del Monte in San Francisco.  While Don was stationed in San Francisco he met the love of his life, Georgia at a dance and they married February 2, 1957 at Holy Name Catholic Church in San Francisco.  They then moved to Sherman County, NE where they farmed their entire life.  She also worked as a teacher’s aide in the Loup City School system and as a care giver for Home Care and Companions.  She was a member of the Loup City American Legion Auxiliary; St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church; Rosary Sodality; Altar Society; Quest; Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound and as a Religious Education teacher.  She also volunteered for the weather spotters and for 4-H.  She loved spending time with family; children and grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, flowers and had a special love for animals.  She was a very caring and compassionate person.

She is survived by her husband, Donald of Loup City, NE; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Bernadette of Gretna, NE; Dennis of Loup City, NE; David and Christie of Ord, NE; Michael of Loup City, NE; Bill and Cindy of Loup City, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and David Gnewuch of Grand Island, NE; Margaret and Fritz Boersen of Grand Island, NE; Alice and Luke Benes of Valparaiso, NE; 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Connie Judson of Fairfax, CA and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother, Joseph Connelly, Jr.; sister, Edna Affolter and infant grandson, Justin Boersen.
