Georgia L. (Lorentz) Dorsey was born April 21, 1934 at Loup City, Nebraska to Arnold “Gus” and Erma (Prasse) Lorentz. Georgia grew up in Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1952. On May 29, 1952 she married Harold Dorsey at her home in Loup City. They lived on the Dorsey homestead farm near Arcadia, Nebraska. In 1959 they moved to Loup City with their three sons where they owned and operated the Dorsey (Cook) Ericson Implement business. In 1964 they built and owned the Trade Winds Marina at Sherman Lake and later owned and operated the Colony Inn in Loup City. In the 1980’s they lived in Saudi Arabia for several years where Harold installed pivot systems and grain bins. Harold later developed a farm for a Saudi Prince. While overseas, they traveled to China, Belgium, Switzerland and England. They loved traveling throughout the United States with their friends, Donna and Russ Ericson. During the 80’s they also owned and operated The House of Meats in Loup City with Dick Bossen.

Georgia was baptized in 1937 in the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Loup City. Georgia volunteered in many different ways. She was active and past president in the Eastern Star and PEO. She volunteered at Rose Lane Home in Loup City for 10 years and received the AKSARBEN Good Neighbor Award. Georgia also served on cemetery and election boards. She was also President of the Loup City Alumni Association. Every year at Christmas time she gave a Christmas program for her grandchildren and great grandchildren at the Dorsey family gathering. In 2007, with the help of her friends she fulfilled her dream of decorating the Bennett Park on main street in Loup City for Christmas and the 4th of July and that tradition continues on today. Georgia was an avid reader, loved crocheting and playing bridge with friends.
