Harry E. Rademacher, 95 of Loup City, NE died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his home in Loup City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging and Father Jack Rademacher officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary held at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Rademacher family or donor’s choice.
Harry Edward Rademacher was born February 4, 1915 at Crete, NE to Henry Joseph and Catherine Anne (Patz) Rademacher. He grew up in rural Loup City and graduated from Wiggle Creek High School in 1932. He married Catherine Chelewski on October 8, 1940 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. To this union three children were born; Elaine, Larry and James. Harry and Catherine farmed in Sherman County all of their life. He worked for Harold Obermiller, Charlie West and Billy B. Day at the old and new sale barn. He loved raising, breaking and selling horses. He belonged to the Loup City Saddle Club and rode in and hosted many horse shows. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus; served on the Webster and Clay Township boards; 12 years as president for the Coop Creamery and 40 years on the Sherman County Agriculture Society. He was also a member of the Saddle Club and a 4-H leader for many years.
He is survived by his wife Catherine of Loup City, NE; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Karen Rademacher of Loup City, NE; James and Sue Rademacher of Loup City, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Larry Reiter of Loup City, NE; ten grandchildren, Janelle Brabec, Brian Reiter, Troy Reiter, Scott Rademacher, Wayne Rademacher, David Rademacher, Shawn Rademacher, Darrick Rademacher, Jason Rademacher and Melissa Newton; 25 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Frances Rademacher of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Don Sorenson of Loup City, NE and sister-in-law, Jean Rademacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and three brothers Elvin, Leonard and Harold.
