Henry Janulewicz, 87 of Blair, NE formerly of Loup City, NE died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, NE. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Janulewicz family or donor’s choice.
Henry E. Janulewicz was born December 10, 1923 near Arcadia, NE to Joe and Clara A. (Eurek) Janulewicz. He grew up on a farm near Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School. He married Emily Schachta on May 5, 1947. To this union two children were born: Jane and Gary. They lived on a farm near Loup City, NE. Emily died May 27, 1981. On October 2, 1982 he married Jean (Lewandowski) Janulewicz. He joined Jean’s family of three daughters: Alice, Janette and Karen. They lived on a farm near Loup City until moving to Blair in 2006. Jean died on January 1, 2011. Henry loved farming, fishing and traveling. He also loved playing cards and visiting with friends. His greatest joy was spending time and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair and Knights of Columbus. Throughout his lifetime he volunteered on various community boards including the Loup City School Board.
He is survived by his son Gary of Greeley, CO; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Randy Zeleski of Lexington, NE; step daughters, Alice Kunes of Bellevue, NE, Janette McLaughlin of Omaha, NE and Karen, husband John Grinberg of Blair, NE; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Riskowski of Omaha, NE; Betty Czarnek of Houston, TX; Mary Spotanski of Ravenna, NE and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Emily and Jean; brother, Tom and step son-in-law, David Kunes.
