Janis L. (Shottenkirk) Meyer

Janis Meyer, 61 of Loup City, NE died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Seward.  Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City, NE with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating.  Burial will follow at the Czechoslovakian Cemetery at Farwell.  Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Meyer family or donor’s choice.

Janis Lynn “Shottenkirk” Meyer was born September 28, 1954 at Independence, MO to William and Barbara “Pokorney” Shottenkirk.  She grew up and attended school in Grand Island, NE.  On September 3, 1977 she married Melvin Meyer at Grand Island, NE.  They lived in Grand Island till 1992 when they moved to Loup City.  Melvin died October 14, 2002.  She recently lived in Boelus, NE with her significant other, Doug Suhrbier.  Janis was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing.  She also enjoyed fishing.  She dedicated her life to her family and friends.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Bonney Shottenkirk of Loup City, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Meyer of Grand Island, NE; Sandra Wetzel of Grand Island, NE; Amanda and Richard Iske of Loup City, NE; Kimberly and Tim Sebesta of Grand Island, NE; step daughter, Melinda Suhrbier of Muscatine, IA; 12 grandchildren; brothers, William (Bill) Shottenkirk of Grand Island, NE; Jerry Shottenkirk of Mustang, OK; Steve Shottenkirk of Jones, OK and Tom Shottenkirk of Lincoln, NE.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Melvin.
