Janos Herold, 84 of Aurora, CO died October 1, 2017 at his home in Aurora. He is the son-in-law of Sally Kaminski. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton, NE. Celebrating the Mass will be Father Richard Piontkowski. Burial will follow at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the Ashton American Legion Post #108. Visitation will be held one hour before Mass. A family gathering will be held at the Loup City Diner following the cemetery services. Memorials are suggested to the Loup City Ambulance/Fire Hall building or donor’s choice.

Janos was born March 21, 1933, to John and Anna Herold in Gyarmat, Hungary.  He completed his education locally and enrolled in the Technical University in Budapest.  He escaped Hungary during the Hungarian Uprising in 1956.  He came to United States as a refugee and was enrolled in the University of California, Berkley where he completed his electrical engineering degree.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army.  After his service, he became employed at Western Electric in New York City.  He transferred with the company to Aurora, CO.   During his career he worked for AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies as senior engineer.  He did contract engineering for two years after his retirement.

On January 26, 1978, he married Edigna Kaminski and they resided in Aurora, CO, until the time of his death.

John enjoyed classical music, reading, skiing, dancing, camping, cooking and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Edigna of Aurora, CO., brother Robert Herold of Islip Terrace, NY, aunt Valarie Schauer of Gyarmat, Hungary and several cousins living in Hungary, niece Kimberly Kaminski and great nephew Bryan Kaminski of Pensacola, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunt, in-laws John and Sally Kaminski, bro-in-law Ivan Kaminski and nephew Michael Kaminski.
