John "Shooter" F. Shotkoski

John F. “Shooter” Shotkoski, 77 of Lincoln, NE died October 22, 2021 at Lincoln, NE. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United State Marine Corps and Loup City American Legion Post #48. There will be a coffee following the service at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church Parish Hall to greet the family. The service will be livestreamed on the Higgins Funeral Home Facebook page. John F. (Shooter) Shotkoski was born February 28, 1944, in Loup City, the son of Edward A. "Fritz" and Anna H. (Eurek) Shotkoski. He grew up on a farm south of Arcadia, attended Loup City schools, and graduated in 1962.

In 1965, he joined the United State Marine Corps Reserve. In 1966, John married Marilyn Ritchie, they later divorced. John was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for over 35 years, the last six years John was elected to serve as Vice President of Local 286, URW/United Steel Workers Union. John was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church.

Survivors: son, Jon and daughter-in-law Cassie; grandson, Eli Glenn Shotkoski, all of Lincoln; siblings and spouses, Pat Opp of Wood River, Janis Palu of Grand Island, Tom and Jacque Shotkoski of Lincoln, Rosie Dooley of Wood River, Kathy Bydalek of Kearney, Joyce and Randy Rowley of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and sister Virginia.
