Kenneth R. DeLong, 81 of Arcadia, NE died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home in Arcadia, NE. Cremation has been held with no local services scheduled. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date in New York.
Kenneth Robert DeLong was born June 24, 1935 at Fredonia, New York to Kenneth L. and Dorothy J. (Riebil) DeLong. He grew up and attended school in Fredonia. In 1953 he joined the Air Force, served in the Korean War and was discharged in 1958. He married Wanda E. Kinney in 1962 at Fredonia, New York. They headed to Alaska to homestead but Wanda chickened out before they got there and they settled in Colorado. They had two daughters, Chrystal L. Green and Karen A. Green. He was a truck driver for P.I.E Trucking for 37 years. He retired in 1998. Kenneth married Jean J. Mumma in 1999 and she passed away in 2012. After Jean’s death in 2012 he moved to Alaska for his life-long dream. In February, 2017 he moved to Arcadia, NE. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the VFW.
He is survived by his daughters, Crystal L. Green of Denver, CO; Karen Green and husband, Jon of Arcadia, NE; two nephew’s, Kenny and Gary DeLong of Dunkirk, New York; four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Wanda Kinney and Jean Mumma; brothers, Robert and Gary DeLong and one infant grandson, William Driscol.
