Lillian Nagorski 83 of Loup City died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at her home in Loup City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Ord City Cemetery approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with a Vigil Service held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Loup City Rescue Squad or donor’s choice.
Lillian Nagorski was born on November 18, 1926 to Henry and Theresa (Pokorney) Krajnik on the family farm 12 miles southwest of Ord, NE. She attended school at District 41 Hard Scrable School to the 8
th
grade. She had the honor of being in the top 10-8
th
grade graduates in Valley County. Since money was so scarce she did not attend high school. At the age of 12 she went to work doing home cleaning, washing and ironing, taking care of new babies and babysitting. She loved Czech music and loved to dance. In June, 1947 she met Gilbert Nagorski at a dance and they were married November 16, 1948. They resided on their farm 9 miles southwest of Arcadia their entire married life. To this union, 4 sons were born; Larry, Richard, Donald and Marvin. She raised chickens, a large garden and helped Gilbert with the farm work. She loved sports and attended all of her son’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She played softball with the RKD Women’s softball team for 21 years. She also bowled with the Loup City Monday Night Women’s League for 30 years till her health forced her to quit. Gilbert passed away in September, 1990 so she sold the farm and bought a home in Loup City. She loved to travel. Her goal was to see all 50 states but, because of her health was only able to visit 44 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Hawaii. She was baptized in the Catholic faith, a silent member of the Ladies Sodality Circle 2 and a 4-H leader for 15 years. She loved to do cross word puzzles and playing cards.
She is survived by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Bev Nagorski of Wood River, NE; Richard and Deb Nagorski of Grand Island, NE; Marvin Nagorski of Spring Dale, WA; daughter-in-law, Sandi Nagorski of Loup City, NE; 7 grandchildren and spouses; Jeremy and Jennifer Nagorski of Alburqurque, New Mexico; Janet and Mike Brown of Bruning, NE; Wyatt Nagorski of Moab, UT and special friend Vera; Nathan Nagorski and special friend, Jancina and her daughter, Elizabeth of Grand Island, NE; Crystal Nagorski of Lincoln, NE; Adam and Michelle Nagorski of Grand Island, NE and Lance Nagorski of Kearney, NE; one step grandson, Steven Wynn Kamper of Grand Island, NE; one great granddaughter, Alexandria Nora Brestel of Bruning, NE; one step great granddaughter, Marissa Brown of Bruning, NE; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Ed Bisaillon of Appleton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Donald.
