Margaret Marie (Rademacher) Sorensen

Margaret M. Sorensen, 94 of Loup City, NE died Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Arbor Care Home in Ord, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski and Father Jack Rademacher will concelebrate the mass. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the church with a Sodality Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Margaret Marie (Rademacher) Johnson-Sorensen was born February 27, 1928 at Wiggle Creek, NE to Henry J. and Catherine A. (Patz) Rademacher. She grew up south of Loup City near Wiggle Creek in Sherman County. She married Gerald R. Johnson on November 29, 1952 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Two sons were born to this union; Mark and Patrick. On January 2, 1982 she married Donald R. Sorensen. Margaret worked for the ASCS office in Loup City until retirement.

In her younger years, Marge contemplated becoming a nun, but circumstances led her in a different direction. She faced a number of tragedies in her life that only increased her faith and reliance on God for her journey. She was always willing to reach out and help others with their difficulties and grief in their dark moments.

Marge loved quilting, gabbing with the girls, Club, Bingo, playing cards and the flowers she raised on her patio every year. She loved to cook and her potato pancakes were the best.

Marge was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Rosary Sodality, Church Circle, Wiggle Creek Club and St. Anne’s Quilting Society.

Marge is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Mary Johnson of Loup City, NE; step-son, Fred (Sharon) Sorensen of Las Cruces, NM; step-daughter, Annette (Malik) Kahn of Midlothian, VA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Sorensen (December, 2020); son, Mark Johnson; parents, Henry and Catherine Rademacher and brothers, Elvin, Leonard, Harry, Harold and Loren Rademacher.
