Phyllis (Brocker) Treffer

December 9, 1926 — December 12, 2014

Phyllis Treffer, 88 of Grand Island, NE died Friday, December 12, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Grand Island with her loving family.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City, NE with Reverend Mike Reiners officiating.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 15 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Memorials are suggested to the Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island, NE or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City, NE.

Phyllis Marie (Brocker) Treffer was born December 12, 1926 in Cicero, IL to Albert and Anna (Schidel) Brocker. She grew up in Cicero just outside of Chicago where she graduated from Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cicero. While there she worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator and spent time traveling. She met Leo Treffer though mutual friends Dean and Dorthy Obermiller, and was married to Leo Treffrer on November 15, 1958. They moved to Rockville Nebraska, where they lived and farmed. To this union three children were born; Mark, Tad, and Kimberly. Leo and Phyllis owned several farming operations in Ashton and Rockville until they retired to Grand Island in 2000.

Phyllis enjoyed farming, gardening, bowling, collecting, traveling, visiting with friends, playing cards and listening to music. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in activities. She loved meeting with her family and celebrating the time they had together.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Harrington and special friend Brad Martin of Grand Island, NE; grandsons, Brandon Harrington and special friend Alissa Willard and Bryce Harrington all of Grand Island, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Anna Brocker; husband, Leo Treffer; sons Mark Treffer and Tad Treffer , and son-in-law, Roger Harrington.
