Ralph I. Slobaszewski

April 25, 1924 — September 27, 2012

Ralph Slobaszewski, 88 of Ashton, NE died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna, NE.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating.  Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service held at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Fire and Rescue or donor’s choice.

Ralph D. Slobaszewski was born April 25, 1924 at Ashton, Nebraska to Steve I. and Domicella (Roschynialski) Slobaszewski.  He grew up in Ashton and attended school District 54 to the 8 th grade.  He married Alice Hughs on December 28, 1959 at Paplin, NE. His whole life was dedicated to farming.  He was a machinist, inventor and a carpenter at heart.  His greatest passion and hobby was his shop.  Most of the tools in his shop were engineered and hand made by him.

He is survived by one brother, Alvin Slobaszewski of Ashton, NE; sister, Elaine Mrkvicka of Grand Island, NE; step-daughter, Mrs. Sharon Krzycki of Ashton, NE; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; three nephews; three nieces and a special young man, James (Charlie) Kusek and his family of Rockville, NE.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Rosemary Slobaszewski.
