Robert K. Lutz

Robert “Bob” K. Lutz, 93 of Loup City, NE died Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home in Loup City.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia, NE with Reverend Dr. Jeff Hale officiating.  Burial will be held at the Arcadia City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.  Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.

Robert K. Lutz was born August 7, 1920 to Vere and Clara (Auefrecht) Lutz on a farm in Sherman County.  The family moved to a farm east of Arcadia when he was seven.  He attended Hayes Creek School and after high school he and his father farmed together until his dad’s passing.  He was united in marriage to Joyce Jackson on June 21, 1964.  To this union they had three sons; John, Ron and Von.  They continued to live on the family farm until January 1995 when they moved to Loup City where he resided until his death.  He worked at the Loup City Commission Company for over 35 years.  Bob farmed all his life, loved the outdoors and playing Yahtzee.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Loup City, NE; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Connie of Chadron, NE; Ron and Michelle of Arcadia, NE; Von and Carolyn of Grand Island, NE; six grandchildren, six step grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Hughes of Fremont, NE and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia (Milton) O’Connor; brother, Guy (Joy) Lutz and sister-in-law, Mary (Wendell) Hughes; brother-in-law, Keith Hughes.
