Ronald "Ron" R. Swanson

Ronald “Ron” R. Swanson 81 of Loup City, Nebraska died suddenly Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home in Loup City. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with Pastor Ryan Durham officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday before the service. Memorials are suggested to the Sherman County Senior Center, Loup City Golf Club, Loup City EMT’s or donor’s choice.

Ronald R. Swanson was born August 30, 1943 at Omaha, Nebraska to Cecil and Betty (Jameson) Swanson. He grew up and attended school in Bassett, NE graduating in 1961. Ron attended Barber School in Lincoln, NE and then moved to North Platte, NE. Ron married Robin Sawyer on February 10, 1963 at North Platte, NE. He was a barber for 15 years in Valentine, NE and Field Sales for Standard Beauty Supply of Omaha for 27 years. Ron worked at Cabela’s in Kearney, NE for 10 years when and then retired in 2014.

Ron was a fun-loving outdoorsman kind of guy. He enjoyed hunting and trap shooting loading his own shells. Ron also enjoyed fishing, ice fishing and fishing trips to Canada. Ron’s favorite hobby after retirement was golf. That’s what he loved to do, best!

Ron is survived by his wife, Robin of Loup City, NE; sons, Ronald Swanson of Grand Island, NE; Tony Swanson of Farwell, NE; sister, Susan Swanson of Silver City, NM; sister-in-law, Lila Mason of Pittsburgh, PA and Shari Bazzie of Salt Lake City, UT. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Betty.
