Stephen G. Denney

Stephen Denney, 79 of Broken Bow, Nebraska died Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society – St. John’s in Kearney, NE. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Loup City. Seth Denney will officiate. Burial will be held at the Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow, NE with military honors provided by the United States Army and Broken Bow American Legion. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Loup City.

Stephen G. Denney was born January 30, 1946 at Hastings, NE to Russell and Mildred (Cornell) Denney. He grew up in Hastings, NE and attended Hastings High School. He graduated from Chadron State College. Steve entered the United States Army on June 23, 1967 and served in the Army until his honorable discharge on April 4, 1970.

On April 9, 1971 Steve married Emma M. Hamilton at Durango, CO. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together. They moved back to Nebraska around 1975. In 1989 they moved to Ft. Collins, CO where he was a carpenter. In 2016 they moved back to Broken Bow, NE to be near family. Steve was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Steve was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting and shooting. He was an avid gun collector. He was a huge John Wayne fan and all things related to Western movies.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Shawn Jaeger) Gentry of Greeley, CO; sons, Shawn (Rebekah) Denney of Callaway, NE and Seth (Tania) Denney of Mount Ayr, IA and nine grandchildren - Ben Denney, Jake Denney, Sam Denney, Devyn Denney, Joe Denney, Ashly Denney, Annah Denney, Ellah Denney, and Jonathan Denney.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Emma; parents, Russell and Mildred; sister, Harriet Bryan and brother, Douglas Denney.
