Victoria Lewandowski, 103 of Loup City, NE died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with a Sodality Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, Rose Lane Home or donor’s choice. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Victoria T. (Janulewicz) Lewandowski was born October 13, 1906 in a sod house east of Loup City, NE on the family homestead to Egnatz and Kathryn (Sydzyik) Janulewicz. She attended rural school east of Loup City through the 8
th
grade. On June 21, 1931 she married Floyd Lewandowski at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. She worked with her husband in his trucking business in 1934; at Obermiller’s Packing Company, Loup City; and at the egg factory in Ravenna. For many years she worked in the kitchen at Sacred Heart Hospital, retiring at age 80. For the last ten years she resided at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Victoria was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and was active in the Sodality, Rosary, and Altar Societies. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening both vegetables and flowers. Her home was the site of many family gatherings and card parties.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Anthony P. Turel Jr., M.D. of Danville, Pa.; three granddaughters: Debra Curlo of Grant, NE; Michele Vinyard of Tracy, CA; Victoria Wiktor of Danville, PA. Eight great-grandchildren: Jeremy Curlo of Garden City, KS; Jessica Curlo of Lincoln, NE; Lee Ann, Ashlee, and Haleigh Vinyard of Tracy, CA; Gavin, Hadley, and Aiden Wiktor of Danville, PA. One great-great grandson: Jamie Curlo of Hays, Kansas.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Floyd, in 1965; son Marion, daughter Marie, and grandson Michael Carpenter; sisters, Clara Janulewicz and Eleanor Damratowski, and eleven brothers; Stanley, Alozy, Floyd, Frank, Joseph, Ignatz, Anton, Steven, Harry, Daniel, and Ben Janulewicz.
