Virginia Mae Glinsmann 86 of Loup City, Nebraska died Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City. Reverend Dean Hanson and Vicar Jason Obermiller will officiate. Burial will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Ashton following lunch. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 at the church. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
Virginia Mae (Brumberg) Glinsmann was born December 4, 1937 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Joseph and Mildred (Johnson) Brumberg. She grew up in Morrill, Nebraska where she attended country school and attended Morrill High School. On April 18, 1954 she married Merle Glinsmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City, Nebraska. Eight children were born to this union; Donna, Judy, Steve, Jenny, Mike, Amy, Tina, and Sue and they raised grandson, Jamie as a son. They farmed south of Ashton raising cattle, hogs and row crops for 25 years after which they moved to a farm south of Loup City in 1980 continuing with their farming operations.
Virginia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her highlight was her sewing, matching Christmas and Easter dresses for her granddaughters. She enjoyed most crafting and was never afraid to learn new techniques, often having several projects going at the same time. She worked briefly at Rose Lane Home and Snack Shop in Loup City making many good friends along the way.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Donna Ford of Wheaton, MO; Judy and Dave Hughes of Hazard, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cathy Glinsmann of Ashton, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Scott Walrath of Loup City, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cathy (Yelkin) Glinsmann of Loup City; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Greg Kotas of Loup City; Tina and Shane Peterson of Axtell, NE; grandson, Jamie and Missi Glinsmann of Hickman, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gerald Carkoski of Grand Island, NE; 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; great granddaughter, Addison; sisters, Josephine Felker and Judy Hendrix and sons-in-law, John Royer and Max Ford
