Anthony "Tony" Gzehoviak Obituary

     Anthony M. Gzehoviak, 91 died March 2, 2020 in Centennial, CO. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, CO. Interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City, NE. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of local arrangements.

     Anthony M. “Tony” Gzehoviak was born July 11, 1929 in Loup City to Anthony A. and Veronica (Larchick) Gzehoviak. He graduated from Loup City High School in 1947 where he was active in football, drama and music. In 1951 he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education at Kearney State Teachers College.

     He served his country in the Marines from 1952-1953 before returning to Loup City to work in the family clothing store. He eventually found his way to Denver, where he took a position as a lab technician with Gates Rubber Company. He retired in 1991 and stayed active playing golf, Texas hold’em and dining out with many friends. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed all the Denver sports organizations, while remaining a loyal Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

     He was a lifelong member of the Loup City American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was an usher at the Cathedral Basilica for 50 years. He served during Pope John Paul’s visit to Denver for World Youth Day in 1993. He will be missed by many friends and family.

     He is survived by his brother-in-law, Richard “Butch” Badura of Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 10 siblings; Louis, Helen, Valerie, Harold, Henry, Alberta, Loretta, Lulcille, Alice, Louise “Honey Lou” and Ronald.
