In addition to her care of her home and family, Catherine was a Home Economics teacher in both Nebraska and Michigan. Serving her church was important to her, and she was an active member of both Altar Societies and Bereavement Committees throughout her life. He received his Master's Degree from Indiana University, afterwards teaching and coaching in Arapahoe and Superior High Schools in Nebraska.

Arnold enjoyed a long career as an insurance executive for Traveler's Insurance Company. After retiring, he and Catherine spent 21 years living in Mesa, Arizona, and their last 12 years in Webster Groves, Missouri. A devoted father and grandfather, he was always very interested in his family's lives.
