David “Dave” L. Dubbs, 66 of Loup City, NE died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Omaha, NE. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Bowman Park west of Loup City with Ray Berry officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Loup City American Legion Post #48 and United States Marine Corps. A bar b que will follow the service. Memorials are suggested to the Dubbs family, Loup City Sons of American Legion or donor’s choice.
David L. Dubbs was born November 19, 1955 at Okoboji, Iowa to Maxwell and Shirley (Arnold) Dubbs. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High. Dave quit school and joined the Marine Corps. After serving in the Marine Corps Dave moved back to Grand Island. In 1989 he moved to Harvard, NE. On August 2, 1991 Dave married Sandra Holmes (Merrill) at Harvard. Sandra had two sons, Norman and Joseph Merrill. In 1996 Dave, Sandra and family moved to Loup City, NE. Throughout his lifetime, Dave was a truck driver, trained horses, did farm work and helped with harvest. He also coached baseball. Dave believed in God and did his worshiping where he felt closest to God, sitting in the grass on a hillside.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sandra of Loup City, NE; sons, Norman Merrill of Davenport, Iowa and Joe (Amber) Merrill of Wilmington, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Elijah and Allison Merrill as well as foster kids and many others that he thought of as his kids. Dave is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Deanna Huff and Debra Dubbs.
