Elaine M. (Bydalek) Maciejewski

     Elaine M. Maciejewski, 92 of Loup City, NE died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski will Celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 23 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a Sodality Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church or donor’s choice. The Rosary and Mass will be livestreamed on the Higgins Funeral Home Facebook page.      Elaine M. (Bydalek) Maciejewski was born June 7, 1929 on the Bydalek family farm south of Ashton, NE to Cyrus and Clara (Nowicki) Bydalek. Elaine attended country school and then through her sophomore year in high school. She was united in marriage to James Maciejewski on October 14, 1947 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. She worked at Helen’s Dress Shop, Golden Rule and Cornhusker Ammunition plant. Elaine was also a cook at the Loup City Public School for 24 years. She retired at the age of 70.

     Elaine enjoyed and loved growing flowers in her garden. Every seed came up that she planted. She cooked many meals for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook. If she had a nickel for every piece of fried chicken she cooked, she’d be a rich woman. She also made the most delicious angel food cakes from scratch. She loved to bake.

     Elaine is a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, Sodality Rosary and Extension, VFW Auxiliary and many card clubs.

     Elaine is survived by her son, Gary (Donna) of Pleasanton, NE; daughters, Marcia (Steve) Kuta of Omaha, NE and Donna Gancos of Kearney, NE; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

     Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, James Maciejewski; parents, Cyrus and Clara Bydalek; daughter, Deanne Carpenter; brothers Jack and Don Bydalek.
