Jane Ellen (Sorensen) Morrison

     Jane Ellen Morrison, 78 of Loup City, NE passed peacefully Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Cremation has been held and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be sent to the Humane Society and Start Over Rover. 

    Jane Ellen Morrison (née Sorensen) was born in Chicago, IL to Ralph and Helen (Lewandowski) Sorensen. Her family later moved to Atlanta, GA where she attended Young Harris College then Georgia State University. While raising her family, she founded the Puzzle People which specialized in educational puzzles. She and her husband Neal traveled the nation extensively, coordinating educational exhibitions for schools and community-focused groups.

     Jane moved to Loup City, NE in 2008, the home of her ancestors. She and her sister spent many summers during their childhood staying with grandparents who took pride in their Polish heritage.

     Jane rescued innumerable cats and dogs throughout her life; the unwanted, unloved, and older ones were her favorites. Being a creative individual, every space she inhabited was decorated with magical and eccentric flair. She brought color and imagination to the lives of those who knew her, and always bloomed where she was planted.

     Surviving her are three sons: Derek, David, and Jason Ward; daughters-in-law, Gina and Stacy Ward and grandchildren, Ally, Jamie, Trudy and Calvin Ward. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy Edwards, and many nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents.
