Norman "Norm" Woitalewicz Obituary

     Norman “Norm” Woitalewicz, 83 of Loup City, NE died Friday, August 19, 2022 at his home in Loup City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass.  Burial will be held at the Ord Catholic Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 at St. Josaphat’s with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Woitalewicz family for later designation. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.      Norman J. Woitalewicz was born October 1, 1938 at Loup City, NE to William and Venice (Lewandowski) Woitalewicz. He attended school in Grant, Valley County and Sherman County. On January 30, 1960 he married Alice Bruha in St. Paul, NE. He lived in various places in Valley County and Sherman County. After his marriage to Alice, they lived in Ord until purchasing a partnership in the Loup City Farm Equipment business in 1972, then they moved to Loup City.

    Norm was a past Loup City Chamber President, served on the Loup City Council and then served as Mayor of Loup City. He was instrumental in building the Loup City Pool, Loup City Community Building and Peterson Ball Fields in Loup City. Norm was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church where he volunteered as Eucharistic Minister and Greeter and served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years.

     Norm is survived by his wife, Alice of Loup City; daughters, Norene (Timothy) Stinson of Bettendorf, IA; Carla (Mark) Andrijeski of Holdrege, NE; Cheryl (Scott) Schneider of Hastings, NE; eight grandchildren, Brian (Jacklyn) Woitalewicz, Brooke Andrijeski (Matthew Slingwine), Paige (Trent) Anderson, Emma Schneider, Hannah Schneider, Alexa Schneider, Travis (Bianca Davila) Stinson and Jackson Stinson; four great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, JoAnn Urbanski of St. Paul, NE; brothers, Don Woitalewicz of Ord, NE and Irvin Woitalewicz of Loup City, NE; sister, Arlene Baasch of Grand Island, NE and brother, Allen Woitalewicz of Ord, NE. 

     Norm was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Allen; daughter, Jodi and mother and father-in-law, Wencel and Emma Bruha.
